The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law. Senate bill 1355 would streamline the process of giving an Idaho Medal of Honor to Idaho law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical service providers (EMS) who were killed or sustained injuries while on duty.

“When I served Idaho as a firefighter, I saw so many heroic men and women who were willing to put their lives on the line to keep Idahoans safe.” Rep. Ellis explained. “I was honored to work on legislation that would make it easier to give recognition to Idaho’s public servants who are putting themselves in danger every day. When a firefighter, law enforcement officer, or EMS worker has made the ultimate sacrifice they deserve to be awarded for their service.”

“Through this legislation, I hope that we are able to honor the Idahoans who truly deserve our highest praise.”
